Flexible Steel Chimney Linings
A Leaking chimney problem can be by fixed be means of a flexible steel liner. This is a continuous length of pipe that runs from the top of the chimney stack to the fireplace opening. It is sealed at the top to the chimney stack and at the bottom fitted with a stainless steel gather hood at the bottom.
This method of lining is particular good if there are large holes in the flue walls. Which would mean other types of wet liner would not work.
The down side to this system is the reduction in the cross sectional area of the flue, this is not an issue if you are planning to use the fireplace for a cast iron insert type fire or a stove but it will reduce the working opening if you are planning on using an open basket.
